PRICING |
Horiryu II charges an hourly rate for all tattoo work. Large-scale Japanese pieces such as sleeves or back pieces are difficult to estimate precisely, as many factors influence session time — including pain tolerance, skin condition, and the level of detail in the design. Rough time and cost estimates are provided during the in-person consultation.

BOOKING PROCESS |
Consultations are required, as Horiryu II operates by appointment only. Consultations are free of charge; however, a non-refundable deposit is required to secure your appointment. Please come prepared with a general design idea and placement in mind before visiting the Vancouver studio.

DESIGN PROCESS |
Designs are not shown prior to the appointment. The consultation ensures both the artist and client fully understand the requested concept. Minor adjustments can be discussed and agreed upon during the tattoo session; however, if the overall idea or subject of the project changes, the artist must be informed at least one week in advance and approve the new design.
Horiryu II specializes exclusively in traditional Japanese Irezumi, a discipline that follows a distinct set of rules, structure, and symbolism to maintain authenticity. |
RESCHEDULING |
If you need to reschedule your appointment, one week’s notice is required. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of your deposit. The deposit ensures the artist’s time is protected; a new deposit of equal or greater value will be required to continue your project.
Once your tattoo has begun, one session per month is typically required until the project is complete. This schedule helps maintain consistency and allows other clients to complete their work on time. |
Preparing for appointment |
Proper preparation is essential to ensure your tattoo session goes smoothly for both you and the artist. Follow these steps for the best experience:
• Get plenty of rest the night before. • Eat a full meal before your session. • Bring sugar-filled snacks and an extra meal for breaks. • Wear dark or older clothing that you don’t mind getting ink on. • Headphones or earphones can help you relax and pass time. • Cash and card payments are accepted (a 3% processing fee applies to card transactions). |
aFTERCARE |
After your session, the artist will wrap your tattoo. Follow these steps for proper healing:
• Remove the wrap two to three hours after your session. • Gently wash the area with unscented soap. • Pat dry, then allow the skin to air dry for 20–30 minutes. • Wait a few days until the tattoo becomes dry. • Apply a thin layer of unscented lotion or moisturizer once the skin feels dry or tight. • The recommended product is Lucky Paw Cooling Balm, designed to ease tattoo healing symptoms. It can be purchased here. Do not rewrap your tattoo. Be mindful of clothing and bedding during the first few days, as light plasma and ink leakage is normal. Repeat cleaning and moisturizing twice daily. If the tattoo feels dry, clean and reapply moisturizer. Peeling after the first week is part of the normal healing process. Do not: • Exercise or sweat excessively for 1–2 weeks. • Soak in water (baths, pools, hot tubs, ocean). • Pick or scratch the tattoo. • Overapply moisturizer (this can clog pores). • Expose to direct sun or tanning. Proper aftercare doesn’t end once healing is complete — healthy skin preserves vibrant tattoos. Continue moisturizing regularly and always use sunscreen when needed. |
