FAQ

PRICING

Horiryu II charges by an hourly rate. As far as estimates for large scale pieces, they are difficult. Many factors take a role in how long a piece may take such as pain tolerance, condition of skin, and detail in the design. Rough estimates are provided during the consultation.

BOOKING PROCESS

A consultation is required as Horiryu II operates by appointment only. The consultation has no charge, but to secure an appointment, a non-refundable deposit is required. Please have a design idea and placement in mind before visiting the shop.

To make a booking, please contact us.

Design process

Designs are not shown prior to the appointment. The consultation insures that both parties are aware of what design is requested. Any small changes to the design are able to be discussed and changed if both the artist and client agree. If the whole idea of the project changes, the artist must be made aware one week prior to the appointment and must agree on the design. Horiryu II specializes in only traditional Japanese artwork which falls under a specific rule set.

rescheduling

If you need to reschedule your appointment, one week notice is required. Failure to do so will automatically forfeit your deposit. The deposit insures that the artist's time is covered. Losing your deposit will require a redeposit of the same or higher amount to continue the piece.

Please keep in mind once the tattoo is started, one session per month is required until the completion of the project. This insures that other clients are able to complete their project on time.

Preparing for appointment

Proper preparation is crucial on how your tattoo session will go. Following the advice below will allow the process to be smooth for you and the artist:
  • Make sure you are rested
  • Have a full meal prior to the session
  • Bring sugar filled snacks and an extra meal for during the session
  • Wear dark clothes or clothes that you don't care to get ink on
  • Bringing headphones/earphones will help distract you
  • Cash or card transaction are accepted. Card transactions will include a 3% surcharge

aftercare

After your session is complete, the artist will wrap your arm. The following is required after:
  • Remove the wrap two-three hours after your session
  • Clean with non-fragrant soap gently
  • Pat dry the area and air dry for 20-30 minutes
  • Wait a few days until the tattoo becomes dry
  • Use a THIN amount of non-scented lotion or moisturizer once the tattoo and skin have become dry or feels "tight."
  • The recommended aftercare product is Lucky Paw Cooling Balm which will ease tattoo healing symptoms. It can be purchase here
  • There is no need to rewrap your arm. Just be cautious on what clothes you wear and where you sleep. You will be leaking plasma and ink for the next few days
Please repeat these steps twice a day. If you feel your tattoo getting dry, its time to clean and moisturize. Your tattoo will eventually start to peel after the first week. This is a normal part of the healing process.

DO NOT:
  • Exercise/sweat excessively before your tattoo is healed (1-2 weeks)
  • Soak in water
  • Pick and scratch the area
  • Put an excessive amount of lotion/moisturizer on. This will cause your pours to clog
  • Sunbathe/tan
Keeping care of your tattoo does not finish after the healing. Keeping care of your skin is keeping care of your tattoo. To keep the vibrancy and appearance of your tattoos, make sure to always moisturize and use sunscreen when required.
